So why now a DJ?
The ‘DJ’ has always fascinated me as it’s a very different animal from the live musician. You are the facilitator of the party as opposed to the person in the spotlight. Don’t get me wrong, I still like to perform. But fundamentally I am there to cater to your event and fill that dance floor. I began this journey 3 years ago when a friend of mine who is a live saxophonist, was looking for a DJ to work with and offered to teach me. This began an amazing crash course in how to create magic behind the decks, as we soon began gigging all over the country.
My experience and feel for what works flourished, both due to my previous knowledge of music and older genre’s such as Disco, Northern Soul, Motown, Rock and Indie mixed with my new education in all things Dance, House, EDM, Rn’B and Pop. I really like how you can work different genres together to build a mood that can cater to all age groups, which is particularly important at weddings. I love the challenge too, because one wrong song can kill a dance floor, so you really have to be on your toes and trust your instincts, people are trusting you with potentially the most significant day of their lives and it is the greatest feeling in the world when people tell you that you absolutely made their perfect day.
